Admittedly, the paper bag pant doesn’t have the most flattering name. The last thing you want to be wearing is a paper bag, that said, this style is here to stay and we are here to tell you how to pull it off. Currently seen on the modeling squad, Gigi, Bella and Kendall. This trend is set to trickle down to us mere mortals soon!
The Proportions Game
This is the sort of style that is ruled by proportions, you need to get it right. Simply, the taller you are the fuller the pants can be. The taller you are the longer they can be. Average height women need to stick to a more fitted silhouette, and a shorter pant.
Head to toe, tone-on-tone has become synonymous with Gigi Hadid. She loves to wear the same color all over and it suits her. This style will add a few inches to your height, but if styled incorrectly you run the risk of it looking like sleepwear. Dress it up to avoid this 🙂
Break It Up
An entirely different direction to go in is to break it up completely. This waters down the over all effect of the paper bag style for those of you that are still experimenting with the look. The contrasting colors allows the eye to wander to different elements of your outfit, not just the pants.
Let’s Dress it Up
Gigi, Bella and Kendall haven’t exactly dressed up this look, but it actually looks great with a jacket provided that the pants are fitted enough and there is enough skin showing. Give a fitted, cropped paper bag pant a new look with a short top and duster coat.
If you have bought this season’s favorite bodysuit but still haven’t figured out how to wear it, this look is for you. Ensure that the bodysuit fits you well, too much pulling (too small) or creasing (too big) will show. This style is perfect for those blessed busty ladies, in an instant your waist will shrink.
The Crop Top
The baby T-shirt is a flexible top for this pant. If you are wearing a baby tee the more generous the pant the more formal it will appear. Gigi Hadid looks fabulously casual in her fitted paper bag pant.
Show it Off
If you have a small waist to flaunt consider a colored belt. In general, styling is all about where you want the eye to fall. If you are proud of your waist, show it off with a contrast belt.
We haven’t seen this very often but it does look like a great idea. Further accentuate your waist with a corseted top. In this instance the pant actually plays second fiddle to the top so make sure your pants are plain enough, otherwise your look will be too busy.
