Perhaps not among the most becoming of silhouettes; despite that ruffles are making a HUGE comeback…both literally and figuratively! Alongside the return to everything 80’s/90’s, ruffles are probably the last thing to invade your closet but trust us…. come spring and you will surely be wearing them! September’s New York Fashion Week runways saw a handful of designers bring ruffles to the stage, such as Rodarte, Michael Kors, and Marc Jacobs among others. So if you ever thought that ruffles are those dainty delicate useless additions then think again. The ruffles are becoming one the most versatile cutting edge styling trends for 2019 and you better takes notes.
A “more is more” approach is quite obvious when it comes to the ruffles of 2019. Giambattista Valli treated his audience however to the most other-worldly ruffled dresses and tops. Celine, Roberto Cavalli, and Dolce & Gabbana were also on the more delicate side of things with their ruffles.

Marc Jacobs on the other hand, alongside a few other designers such as Gucci, Preen, and Molly Goddard brought delicious cake dresses down the runways that were quite out-there and touching on frivolous …in my opinion ..but what do I know!
The ruffled blouses that went down the runways however, are a different story! Embodying late 19th century romanticism, the ruffled blouses offered by the likes of Coach 1941, Zimmerman, and Preen are quite wearable and can easily be paired with shorts, pants or long skirts.
