Shoulder Pads Are Back & We Bet We Can Make You Love Them!!

If you’re anything like me you’ve probably developed an adverse reaction to shoulder pads, perhaps due to the overdose we witnessed as kids growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. Some designers are responsible for this 80’s revival; Hedi Slimane transformed Saint Laurent into this 80’s disco party, while many other new-ish brands have made us fall in love with 80’s inspired silhouettes that boast ruched sleeves, huge bows, and body hugging shapes. Keeping in line with the drama, The Met Gala theme this year was both over the top and hilarious at the same time, perhaps to serve as a reminder that we shouldn’t take ourselves and fashion too seriously. Which is probably a little contradictory as the 80’s decade was considered amongst the most serious decades of fashion, think Dynasty and Dallas and you’ll get the idea!
