During the colder months people unconsciously gravitate towards prints that are livelier and more fun than you average sombre palette. This season there are so many chic prints to choose from, be they the fair isle sweaters we featured at the beginning of the season, to houndstooth, or snake print; the sky’s the limit! Scroll below for a hefty dose of fashion-forward prints to include in your closet for a more fun wardrobe this winter.
1 || Argyle
No longer reserved for your grandpa’s cardigan, argyle sweaters and cardigans are having a moment. This Scottish tartan print is easily styled by layering a collared blouse underneath a sweater or a cardigan. Take your inspiration from the street style images above and wear it with a cape and knee-high boots, or simply wear your cardigan as a top and leave some buttons undone.
2 || Houndstooth
If you’re more on the minimalist side this is the perfect trend for you; you can go completely monochrome or you can shake things up by pairing it with a striking color such as emerald or fuchsia. You can wear it as a jacket, skirt, cardigan, or a dress for an instantly polished look.
3 || Fair Isle
Nothing shouts more winter than a fair isle sweater; this “grandpa” trend is a winning item this season and it can be styled up or down. You can wear it with tailored trousers or a striking mini or midi skirt and pumps or you can simply cosy it up with cargo pants and combat boots.

4 || Brocade & Jacquard
These rich fabrics will no doubt add such an opulence to your winter outfits what with their usual metallic threading. Not only spotted on coats, this season you can also experiment with blouses, skirts and dresses in all brocade and jacquard colors and prints.
5 || Slithering Snake
No longer just reserved for boots and handbags; the snake effect has literally slithered its way onto head-to-toe looks this season. If you’re not that brave yet, opt for snake effect boots paired with a knitted skirt instead.
6 || Plaid
There is no way that you could’ve missed plaid this season. Plaid and check are the heritage prints that are probably popular throughout the year and especially during the cold weather. Chances are you already own a plaid blazer, why not venture out and get yourself a plaid culotte and pair it with the mock-croc boots of the season.
7 || Zebra Print
We’re still going strong with the animal prints, and it’s zebra stripes this time around. This is a trend you can combine with vivid colors or by wearing it on its own.
8 || Winter Florals
Of course you can still wear florals in winter. You can go for a jewel-toned floral pattern, or try out bold floaty florals paired with a leather motto and combat boots for a romantic grungy look. You can also layer your floral dress with a thin turtleneck, tights and a long coat for a more polished look.
