Despite the fact that your Instagram feed is purging with images of palm trees, tie-dye, and celebrities enjoying their cooler-than-thou attitude under the Californian desert sun! Despite that, we have to admit that for the two weeks in April that the music festival Coachella is taking place, not only are we witnessing celebrities and influencers enjoying their denim cutoffs and western boots… but upon closer inspection one should be able to spot a few major trends that are about to take off. Since Coachella is all about the cool denim, below are 6 major denim trends that were seen again and again which made us stop and take note!
1 || Denim Biker Shorts
Or long denim shorts, let’s not argue about the definition. But this year witnessed a major return to the denim shorts of the early 90s. Sure cutoff denim shorts will always be a Coachella staple, but this longer silhouette is more versatile and suits everyone. Pair with a funky belt bag and you’ll be another level of cool.
2 || Baggy 90s Jeans
All the coolest girls were seen sporting this baggy silhouette. High-waisted loose-fitting jeans were spotted on the likes of Kaia Gerber and Hailey Baldwin but you don’t have to have model stick-thin bodies to pull off this relaxed look.
3 || Acid Wash
Never mind that you didn’t like the acid wash trend the first time round…that is if you were old enough for it, but now you’ve got another chance to attack this trend if you so wish! Acid wash denim came in all shapes and sizes at Coachella this year.
4 || Janties
Not your average run-of-the-mill trend but super denim cutoffs or janties are another major trend spotted at Coachella. Though this is a trend you may want to reserve for your vacation or beach getaway but if you have the legs to show for it then go ahead and flaunt your denim janties.
5 || Beige Jeans/Pants
High-rise skinny or cropped wide-leg in all shades of white and beige are IN right now. If you opt for an off-white wide-leg pair you will have ticked all the style boxes.
6 || Distressed Denim
Distressed denim is still here so you can relax now. The laid-back look of rock-n-roll denim is still as strong as ever. Play around with it; pair with dressy tops, long cardigans or band tee’s.
