October is officially denim season, but can we really pull ourselves away from the soft comfort and forgiving cut of your favorites drawstring sweats after months of quarantine? Well, it may be true that Fall’s fashion was actually created before the onset of COVID, but surprisingly, one of the strongest trends will save us from having to squash into a stiff pair of jeans for fall. The relaxed fit in both jeans and regular trousers finally means that you don’t need to sacrifice comfort for fashion.
This season’s strongest trend in the trousers department is exactly that, a men’s style pant, AKA trousers. These pants are relaxed, high-waisted, with 90’s style darts, with a relatively long crotch length. Wide through the hip and thighs, and they are meant to be worn puddled at the feet, meaning you can actually wear your favorite flats, which is not always the case with wider legged pants.
And so what do you wear on top in this case? Well the question is; how tall are you? The best case scenario is to keep the top quite fitted, be it a silk blouse or a knit top. On top, you can wear this season’s modern cropped jacket, be it a traditional blazer or even a trench. If you are tall and slim enough, take advantage of the oversized blazer look which few can get away with when wearing wide legged pants.
As for color schemes, the single color look, from head-to-toe migrated from past seasons, and is still going strong. Opt from a wide range of colors from disco brights such as purple and mustard to classic reds. Not that kind of gal, no problem, a traditional take on autumn dressing means that we have a wonderful variety of houndstooth, pinstripes, camels and beiges to mix and match to our heart’s desire.
