Isn’t it a little alarming that when you think that you’ve finally shopped enough for one season, the next season tags along in no time! Yes alarming….but in a good way. The trend report for Spring 2020 has come out and we are super excited to see what made the cut. Some trends will leave, some will stay, and some will have made a debut or a come-back. So if you’re itching to stay ahead of the crowds and want to invest in a few avant-garde pieces look no further! We’ve gathered for you the latest and possibly the greatest trends that you’ll be wearing in a couple of months time….and you better start now!
1 || Contemporary Crochet
Definitely not your grandmother’s crochet! Crochet gets a serious update this spring as it invades all types of wear! You can easily imagine the ultra-feminine dresses that are made in crochet but can you also picture polished suits and eveningwear? Needless to mention that crochet is a handmade technique that has been passed down generations deeming it as sustainable as can get!
2 || Minimalistic
Severe minimalism will always have its entourage of adoring fans! Perhaps in response to the maximalism of past seasons, but minimalism never exactly goes out of style. This spring will see a return to pared-back sophistication and elegance by going more timeless over trendy.
3 || Retro Prints
On one end of the spectrum you have your minimalist faves, while on the other end we bring you retro graphics and prints in the form of 60’s wallpaper patterns. We bet you’ve had enough of florals, so the designers decided to venture forth and bring nostalgic psychedelic prints that one used to adorn 60’s wallpaper and upholstery with.
4 || Vests
The vest keeps making a comeback whether we like it or not! The vest can be worn as part of a three-piece suit just like it was styled at Burberry and Etro, or it can be mismatched with a jacket or dress.
5 || Spring Leathers
No longer reserved for fall and winter, leather has been making a very strong statement recently and it’s here to invade your spring wardrobe as well. Colourful leather was spotted on many runways and in many forms; from jackets to pants, skirts to dresses, the sky’s the limit. Opt for a colourful leather jacket this spring and you will be spot on.
6 || Bermuda Craze
The bermuda shorts and the bermuda short suit are a must for spring. Some consider this a spin-off the biker short trend. Designers such as Bottega Veneta, Chloe, and Givenchy were among the few to embrace this trend for spring.
7 || In Tiers
This is another trend that we’ve already covered before but it seems it needs a bit more emphasis. Tiered dresses, gowns, and skirts were a big hit on the spring summer runways. Despite their drama and volume but tiered dresses and skirts were surprisingly versatile for spring as they can be dressed up with blouses or down with cropped tops and sandals.
