Although the research on earthing is still relatively new, humans have reaped the rewards of connecting physically with the Earth since the very beginning of our existence. Walking barefoot, sleeping on the ground or close to the ground were all essentials that allowed us to connect to the Earth and its electric bounty.
As humans were are bioelectrical. Our bodies operate electrically. All of our cells transmit frequencies that run our hearts, immune and nervous system in addition to our muscles. Researchers have started to consider our lack of connection to the Earth as a potential factor in the world’s increase in illnesses. The results although inconclusive as yet, have show that our bodies are better when electrically connected to the Earth, ie. grounded. Studies show that grounding specifically decreases levels of inflammation and pain, reduces stress levels and improves circulation.
Although not all of us can go on daily barefoot walks there are some things that can also help ground us. For example it is not just soil and earth that ground us…sand and concrete also work. Surfaces to avoid are wood, asphalt and vinyl. There are also a variety of grounding products available that can be used while sleeping, relaxing or working.
