With the holy month of Ramadan just hours away, wouldn’t it be useful if we were able to make good at the click of a button. And by good we mean to be able to give to the needy and hungry without making them feel like charity and without actually going much out of our way…
Well, happily enough there is an app that does exactly that but unfortunately this is not available for us in Jordan. Jasmine Crowe from Atlanta, launched Goodr, an app that links caterers, restaurants and any place that manages large amounts of food, and links them to the hungry and those in need. Crowe realised that “Hunger is not a scarcity issue. There’s more than enough food. It’s actually a logistics issue.”
Those who donate through the app will be able to track their donations and their donation tax write-offs in the app. The app connects the food-producing clients to the drivers who transfer the food to certain charities or food banks. The app even gathers testimonials from those who receive the food.
This app is currently only working in the state of Atlanta but they hope to expand. We felt it was such a wonderful idea, especially during this time of year, and we sincerely hope that by featuring it we can draw the attention of do-gooders here in Jordan to create a local app that serves the same purpose.
