The historical alignment between Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto that took place in mid-March was a powerful game-changing transit which also coincided with the outbreak of COVID-19. But now that we’re in the eclipse season the astrological intensity is still as strong as ever, and this can only mean a chance for transformation, evolution and growth. You do not have to be an astrological expert, nor do you have to be a strong believer to understand the powers of change that are brought on by these astronomical phenomena. But nonetheless, let’s try to break this down for you and see what it really means for us and our wellbeing.
What does eclipse season mean? To put it simply, we had a full “strawberry moon” on June 4th, which was also considered a lunar eclipse for half of the world. This eclipse sets into motion three more eclipses; a ‘strawberry moon (lunar) eclipse” which took place on June 5th, a (solar) eclipse “ring of fire” on June 21st, and a (lunar) eclipse “thunder moon eclipse” on July 4th. All of these phenomena, one solar and two lunar eclipses, put together are what makes up the eclipse season. To explain things further, twice a year, we will get a period where the moon will be perfectly aligned between the Sun and the Earth (solar eclipse), or when it’s lined-up with the Sun and hiding behind the Earth (lunar eclipse). The strawberry moon that took place earlier this month is considered a partial penumbral lunar eclipse and it was visible from all of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Eastern Europe.
The interplay between these astrological events and the current events taking place on earth is truly a matter that warrants inspection and evaluation. When we think of Venus in conjunction with the earth, and when we understand that Venus is connected with what and why we love certain things, then we should allow ourselves during these times to question the ethics and values that guide us in life. A new important cycle of growth is all around us and this time the vibes are as real as can get. We should make use of this time to do some inner inspection and reflection. How have our values served us? Are there any lessons learnt in our lives? What do we need to let go of so that we can come closer to our true selves and make room for change? Are we speaking our truth or still struggling with boundaries and people pleasing? Dig deep and do some thorough soul searching during this phase.
Astrology lovers will be happy to learn that the eclipse season started on June 5th at 15 degrees of Sagittarius which is the sign of loud truths. This eclipse prompts us to re-connect with our inner selves, to reassess everything we do in order to release old patterns and behaviours that have become unhelpful for us and no longer serve us. Freedom is another important aspect of this eclipse season, and the calls to end racial injustice in the States and subsequently all over the world are simply a manifestation of that energy. But it’s not just the collective freedom that’s getting affected; it’s also our individual freedoms, and these are best represented by our being vocal and speaking our truth without fear of judgement or repercussions.
Eclipse seasons are undoubtedly disruptive times that we need to navigate gently and with compassion, as you can so clearly tell. When was the last time the world experienced such collective disruption? Prioritising self-love can never be more important than right now. Nourish yourself, make time for rest, take things slow, hydrate yourself well and exercise. Remember the world is still struggling with a pandemic; don’t jeopardise your immunity. Find ways to deal and heal from the difficult news surrounding us. Spend time in prayer and meditation, or search for the rituals that soothe you the most and commit to them as long as they align with your values, inner truth and authentic self. The world is rapidly changing and we should and must align ourselves with these changes from the inside out.
