We all know that texting while driving is a serious offense, it’s an offense to fellow humans. A recent study by Virginia Tech states that a texting-while-driving person is 23.2 times more likely to be involved in a car accident.
If you were to think about it, it is not very often that we actually start a text conversation while we’re in the car, it’s more an ‘urgent’ response to a message we receive while in the car.
Apple’s latest download iOS11 has a handy feature that we ourselves have tried at CIIN. A do-not-disturb-while-driving feature, which basically halts notifications while you are in the car. Your phone actually senses when you get in the car (creepy right).. And holds messages till you leave the car. If you are at a traffic light and get curious you can easily retrieve the messages received.
If you haven’t been alerted to this feature when downloading iOS11, simply go to settings-control center – customize controls. Tap the green circle at ‘do not disturb while driving’.
Need to deactivate? Swipe up from the bottom of your screen and tap the car icon to turn the feature off.
