Big news for the Arab fashion industry, the launch of Fashion Trust Arabia brings designer support and mentorship to a new level. Following in the footsteps of the highly successful British Fashion Council’s Fashion Trust, the prize initiative promises to bring new opportunities to the region with the support of a wide range of regional and international business and fashion leaders. The inaugural prize is expected to be awarded at an event in the Spring 2019.
Looking back at the history of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Trust, household names such as Peter Pilotto and Mary Katrantzou rose to fame thanks to the support of the Trust. Co-founded by Lebanese-born, British-based Tania Fares, since its inception in 2011 the Fashion Trust has awarded over 1.6 million pounds to over 39 designers. In addition to mentorship the Trust is able to connect investors with designer talent a formula that we hope to see flourish in the Arab world.
The Fashion Trust Arabia initiative is chaired – by Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser (playing an honorary role), and co-chaired by each of Sheikha Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani and Tania Fares (co-founder of the UK’s Fashion Trust).
