Fairy lights, lots and lots of fairy lights…Those were the instructions given… Three dresses, three very distinct attitudes, challenging the norms of party dressing. As the dream team, Avo Markarian, CIIN’s Hiba Asaad, Yasmine Abu Hassan and Hiba Bustami huddle together ironing out the specifics one thing is clear, this is no basic photoshoot, this is a tale of lights from three very different perspectives…
F.Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby serves as the inspiration for the first chapter, a theme of 1920’s decadent glamour. In a silver, full length, shimmer Badgely Mischka number and bright red Aldo clutch, Hiba Bustami is transported to an era of glitz and grandeur complete with retro hair and makeup.
Then transporting us to the wild heyday of Studio 54, the infamous nightclub of the Seventies, Hiba Bustami takes us on a wild trip in a beaded jumpsuit by retail giant Miss Selfridge, careless, back-combed hair and cinematic makeup.
Saving the most dramatic for last, the team dream up a Helen of Troy story. The most beautiful woman of Greek mythology that burned a thousand ships and towers. Dressed in a Karen Millen Grecian style dress, Hiba Bustami plays the role of an abducted Helen. The playful fairy lights in an instant transformed to prison chains. The sparkle of the disco backdrop with the flick of a switch replaced with the heavy silence of a moonless night.
