Dolce&Gabbana presented two shows in Milan and not one which is crazy come to think of it… Imagine the work involved. What’s worth mentioning is that Dolce&Gabbana’s regular show is never really about the clothes but in fact about messaging. Remember when bloggers and influencers marched down the runway a season or two ago. Then of course there was the selfie show which also caused quite a stir.
Well the drones coming down the runway, clutching pretty handbags at yesterday’s show certainly caught everyone’s attention. After that there was a serious about face, the drones completely forgotten the focus became purely on the Catholic church. This may have a lot to do with the MET’s most highly anticipated Spring exhibition ‘Fashion and Catholicism’.
Dolce&Gabbana after all were the inventors of the crucifix and black lace as fashion symbols. This modern rendition incorporated on-trend elements. Plenty of slogan t-shirts and sweaters with confessions such as ‘fashion sinner’ and ‘fashion devotion’. Glorified Juicy Couture-like training suits probably at ten-fold the price also played a strong role in the show. As for real clothes, they were few and far between which probably didn’t surprise anyone. To see the full collection click here.
