When Jimmy Choo decide to launch a 90’s-inspired shoe collection it would seem natural for them to go to Kaia Gerber for inspiration right? You would probably argue that Kaia wasn’t even born back then, but think about it. The It girl of the moment is the daughter of the IT girl of the 80’s and 90’s, so it would seem befitting that Cindy Crawford’s daughter – with her signature style of sharp-shouldered blazers, high-waisted jeans and crop tops – would be the best one suited for such a collaboration.
Gaia Gerber designed a four-piece capsule collection with the British luxury giant Jimmy Choo with fifteen percent of the sales going to St. Jude Children Research Hospital; a charity that Gerber was involved with since she was very young. The super comfortable and practical collection is made up of kitten heels and boots that are perfect for strutting about town with. In fact, Gaia swears by the Cruz combat lace-up boots that she cannot live or travel without. “I wanted to be able to wear these shoes all day and then out to dinner.” Gerber explains. Gaia had to study various fabrications and shoe models and constructions to be able to come up with the best balancing act that combines style and comfort. There’s a lot to learn from the 90’s Gerber stated.
The collection will be released on February 2nd, and it will include a snakeskin brown version of her Cruz boots designed alongside Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director. The collection will also include a tan suede ankle boot, black mules, and a slingback kitten heel.
