When you hear or see the word Hermès, what two things immediately come to mind? For me it’s definitely ultimate ‘quality and luxury’, with emphasis on the word ‘ultimate’ of course. The word Hermès conjures up images of extreme sophistication and slightly less-affordable luxury….less emphasis on the word ‘slightly’ in this case! So how do you feel about the fact that the luxury label is about to launch its skincare and makeup lines? Curious to say the least! Launching in 2020, Hermès will be bringing its signature luxury to beauty and skincare.
It’s a big market that’s already full of strong players, and therefore we have to find our place in it.
Keeping most details under wraps, for obvious reasons, we only know that the collections will be environmentally-friendly in the sense that they will use plastic-free packaging. The collections which are currently being manufactured in Italy and France are expected to follow the footsteps of other luxury brands such as Chanel and Dior offering comprehensive lines that include cleansers, creams, serums and more. As for the makeup, if the makeup on Hermès’ models for their fall 2019 runway is any indication then we should expect to see an eyeshadow palette somewhere. Hermès fragrances sold $355 million in 2018 seeing a 10 percent increase from previous years!
If you’re wondering about the prices like we all are then let me assure you that to own an Hermès skincare product will come at no easy cost! However, since the people at Hermès are looking for recruiting new customers, they said that introducing beauty products “will allow a low price point without diluting the brand perception”. How will this translate into regular English we will have to wait and see. Look on the bright side however, you’ll soon be able to own an assortment of orange boxes without the Birkin-hefty price tag to show for them!
