Well, there are no surprises here. Denim is once again a wardrobe staple come fall. How denim is worn has been given a bit of an upgrade…simply because if the looks aren’t updated no is going to buy denim. They’ll just make do with what they have. Here are the trends that will be ruling our fall looks.
Head to Toe Denim
Denim on denim is not a new phenomenon, although it may still need some getting used to. This season its not the traditional denim shirt and pant that are trending but rather a matching jacket and pant. Kind of like a pantsuit, but in denim.
This trend is everywhere, and it’s looking good. Combining the ease of denim with the functionality of a boiler suit, the denim jumpsuit rises as the hero piece of the season. When choosing a jumpsuit, keep in mind the look you want reflect. The more the denim is distressed, with cargo pockets and self-belt the more casual it will appear. If you are looking for something more formal, go for raw denim with minimal detailing.
Denim Bike Shorts
Well if you still haven’t gotten used to the lycra bike shorts trend then this can be a welcome addition for fall. It’s still warm, but you might want to wear a blazer to hail in the new season. Match it to frayed denim bike shorts for an updated autumnal look.
Not Just Blue
One of the newest and least familiar trends this season is the denim and leather trend. Leather inserts have cropped up in many places, from waistbands to knee-pads. There is a lot of variety, and plenty to choose from, so you can go full throttle or take it slowly.
The high-rise, cigarette leg pant has been trending since summer. Many of these pants have a yoke feature in the front, that kind of breaks up the large expanse of fabric between the waist and crotch. If you are an hourglass silhouette you will enjoy this trend that will emphasize your enviable curves.
The Mid-rise Crop
No surprises here, this is the dependable cut of the past few seasons that works on pretty much anyone. Choose the finish that you like, and the length. This is the new classic and for good reason, its so easy to style. You can wear sneakers for a casual look, or a kitten heel slide if you are in the mood to go a little more dressy.
Raw Denim Nineties Classic
Well, well, well… We haven’t seen this style in a while. This tailored pant in raw denim is very flattering and comes in a number of variations. The one we like best is the pant with a seam down the front which cuts an inch or two off your hips and thighs, what’s not to love..
