Rihanna is to launch her own make-up collection under LVMH Moet Hennesy Louis Vuitton.
The Kendo division of the luxury goods conglomerate has signed a deal with the pop star for a complete cosmetics range, WWD reports. It’s thought LVMH paid up to $10 million (£7 million) to secure the venture, titled Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, and it’s expected to launch in the fall of 2017.
Few details have been revealed, but David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of Kendo, was happy to share his delight at the project.
“Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience,” he gushed. “We are aiming for the stars.
“Kendo is honoured to work with Rihanna.”
Another executive commented that “everything with her is off the charts”, and with her style status ever-soaring, fans are bound to be in for a treat. Rihanna’s line is to be the third major make-up project Kendo has been involved with, following on from Kat Von D Beauty and Marc Jacobs Beauty.
This isn’t the first time the Work singer has dipped her toe into the world of make-up, as she previously teamed up with MAC Cosmetics in 2013 for a four-piece limited edition RiRi Hearts MAC colour collection. A year later she raised funds for AIDS research by representing the brand’s Viva Glam lipstick.
On top of these successes Rihanna has a series of perfumes to her name, which industry sources estimate generates around $75 million (£53 million) in wholesale net shipments.
Diana Espino, global vice president of marketing and brand development of Parlux Ltd., commented on the musician’s achievements. “Our Rihanna business continues to flourish,” Diana noted. “What she produces has the authenticity of a fashion icon and an entertainment trendsetter. She is really a developer, (and) the consumer knows it.”
