We get goosebumps when we witness history in the making. We feel that the new Stuart Weitzman ad campaign will be counted amongst the fashion highlights of 2018 if not all time. To have Gigi Hadid and legendary Kate Moss pose together for Mario Testino should be quite a historical event for a number of reasons…
Weitzman is known for having supermodels promoting his brand and for the past five years we have seen Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, Natalia Vodianova, and Gigi Hadid featured. However, the 2018 campaign includes a “multi-generational” merge featuring Kate and Gigi; who will be working together for the first time ever! Gigi took to her Instagram account to share some behind-the-scenes pics saying “I had the great honour and pleasure of shooting the Stuart Weitzman campaign with the one and only Kate…”
Testino was able to capture the chemistry and synchronicity between the gorgeous two and some have felt that they actually looked quite alike in the ads. Hadid and Moss are featured in two black and white photographs sporting monochromatic looks; where in one of the photos both models are seen to step on model Jordan Barett. Both models were interviewed on the set about their hidden talents and they posted it in a charming behind-the-scenes video.
Some believe that this campaign is a milestone for models of the younger generation as it signifies an acceptance of younger models by the iconic models of the 90s. This campaign might also mark a significant moment in Testino’s career possibly being among his last “for the time being”, as he has been suspended from working with fashion magazines including Vogue following sexual exploitation accusations.
Anna Wintour, artistic director of Condé Nast said that the publications will not work with Testino (and Weber who is also being investigated) for the “foreseeable future”. 64 year old Testino is an iconicfashion and portrait photographer; his photographs have made Vogue, Vanity Fair, and GQ among others into what they are today. He is also responsible for creating images for Gucci, Burberry, Versace, Chanel, and Stuart Weitzman among others as well as being a photographer of royalty.
