The printed pantsuit has been enjoying some serious attention lately from the fashion pack. The streets of Paris at couture week were dotted with fabulous printed pantsuits from the likes of Olivia Palermo and Diona Ciobanu. Not for the faint-hearted, this trend needs to be worn fiercely or not at all.
The good news is that it will make you look taller, and cover up any minor figure issues. You do need to follow the rules however, to get it right.
Firstly, unless you are a catwalk model you need to wear heels. Great big chunky sandals are great, they add a seventies vibe to the look.
Secondly, the statement is the pantsuit so no need to add anything else to compete with the look. No statement jewelry, pretty blouse or fancy hairstyle, keep the attention on the pantsuit.
Thirdly, don’t be misguided into believing that a Hawaii-inspired printed pantsuit is a casual piece. Heidi Klum got it all wrong with her beach hair and flip flops, this trend is a formal one.
Fourthly, and most importantly you need to show a little skin, a v-neckline, three quarter sleeves or even a crop top. We love Olivia Palermo’s style but she is almost drowning in print below, and could have benefited from a little more skin showing…
