A panel of industry experts and influencers will form the judging body and the winners are announced during the gala dinner that took place yesterday.
Brazilian-born London-based jewelry designer Fernando Jorge is the Winner of the GEM Award for Jewelry Design. Jorge earned an MA in jewelry design from Central Saint Martins in London after acquiring a decade of jewelry design experience with different Brazilian brands. He launched his eponymous label in 2010 and though he’s based in London but his collections are greatly influenced by his Brazilian roots and boast the “laid-back attitude and effortless sensuality” of his country. Jorge’s jewelry uses locally-sourced gemstones boasting unique cuts and using delicate gold snake chain. Jorge is considered one of the most significant emerging jewelry designers that has caught the media’s eye and already began winning international awards.
Combining a meticulous attention for detail with a love of the natural world and ancient cultures; Furmanovich uses unusual materials such as oxidised copper, shells, and bamboo in her timeless pieces. Born in Brazil to a line of Italian goldsmiths, Silvia established her jewelry business in 1998 and opened her boutique in 2009.
Growing up in the house of a diamantaire, Valérie’s entry into the jewelry world seemed inevitable. When entering her father’s business, she infused an age-old industry with a contemporary modern aesthetic targeting younger audiences with diamonds that are wearable and very comfortable. She opened her first boutique in Paris in 2013, to become the only businesswoman in France to head her own house of jewelry.
