We are one foot away from the official beginning of spring, actually ten days to be precise..yayyyy! Which means that our spring wardrobe must be in tip top shape in no time. We’ve been featuring spring and summer trends for a while now but it’s time we got into details. When we think of spring we immediately conjure up images of spring florals, but fear not! The coming season is chock full of patterns and prints that will lure the most devout minimalists out there …moi included! Read below to learn about the newest and trendiest patterns and prints for the coming seasons. Caution…these are not for the faint of heart.
1 || Retro Florals
Spring cannot exist without some florals now can it? Even though we promised no florals but we can’t ignore one of the most dominant trends around. Retro or psychedelic florals are a very refreshing take on spring florals. The return to the 60’s and 70’s will not only be through these patterns, you will also need to invest in some boho dresses, a flared velvet pants, and mod mini skirts. A thick head band will do very nicely here as well.
2 || Gingham
If Emilia Wickstead should decide that gingham is in for spring then we should all obey. Then again, gingham was always a warm weather staple, but forget about the tabletop runner for a second and focus on more serious takes this time around. The runways have seen gingham in pastels, two-piece suits, and head-to-toe looks. Cannot take this much gingham? Then you should probably just try to incorporate a subtle gingham element into your wardrobe …. you simply have to.
3 || The Tropics
It is no wonder that Versace re-created their iconic J.Lo dress for spring summer 2020. To freshen things up a bit … or a lot.. just invest in some tropical prints such as palm prints, hibiscus florals or any other patterns or prints that smell of islands and summer.
4 || Polka Dots
If you’re in need of some polka dot inspiration just turn to Altuzarra for a good reference. They never completely leave the scene don’t they? Polka dots are rampant next season and whether you’re looking to dress them up or down there is an option for everything.
5 || Pinstripes
Pinstripes were simply a by-product of the suiting craze. But don’t let the suit fool you, pinstripes are now found on many different silhouettes. Just don’t take your pinstripes too seriously. Keep things more fun and less business-like by adding more casual pieces, or by merging them with other ‘fun’ accessories such as sneakers, belts, mesh tee’s and by simply adding more color.
