While other luxury brands have long been immersed in the world of collaborations, Prada has always been immune to that fever.. However, those days are gone, as a couple of days ago marked the historic moment announcing a teaming up between Prada and Adidas.. In a teaser that went viral on social media, Italian luxury house and Europe’s largest sportswear manufacturer posted two Adidas shoeboxes slipped into Prada’s embossed shopping bag..
Unlike other high end fashion brands, Prada seemed to ignore luxury’s turn towards casual attire and sneakers, although in theory it should have been perfectly positioned for the shift, as it was among the first luxury brands to introduce a sneaker back in 1996. The following year, it debuted Linea Rossa, a line of technical sportswear. But it eventually pulled Linea Rossa from stores in 2010 and kept its focus on products such as handbags to drive sales.
In the highly anticipated release date, we will surely see the signatures of both brands merged into one. The first delivery of the collaboration will be 2 Prada for Adidas shoes and will be available in December 2019. The shoes will be manufactured by Prada in their Italian factory.
