All The Fashion Trends That Dominated The 2020 Oscars

Oscar Trends

A few of the greatest and most outstanding designer runways had the chance to shine again during this year’s awards season. When runway trends manifest on the red carpet the result is the delivery of impeccable fashion worn by A-list celebs.. Last night, we couldn’t help but notice the 6 trends which dominated the red carpet in an exquisite manner..

From runway to the red carpet, check out what’s trending in the dreamy world of gown dressing..

1 || Statement Sleeves

The Oscars red carpet witnessed daring sleeves; puffy, structural, some were caped while other gowns featured detached sleeves… Margot Robbie’s extra long sleeves touched the red carpet, while Sandra Oh’s were larger than life! Olivia Colman’s were, well regal and Youssra’s were glorious..

2 || Black And Pink Color Blocking

Despite the fact that there were only two celebs donning the black/ pink color combo last night, the color blocking was such eye-candy and pleasantly refreshing!

3 || Capes

To us, capes are worn by super humans! Last night at the Oscars capes ruled.. However, the trend took on a different feel this time, with Natalie Portman’s Stella-r cape gown that featured embroidered names of the three female directors snubbed at the Oscars sent a strong message about the male-dominant event. Janelle Monae’s performance was another ode to those three women as well as minorities, with her  floral bouquet cape inspired by the folk horror film “Midsommar”.

4 || Sustainability

Despite the fact that the sustainability concept has not been well enough embraced this awards season, both the BAFTA’s and the Academy Awards have witnessed only a few celebs who were textile-waste conscious, at least the trend is picking up.. Amongst the celebrities whom have seriously addressed sustainable fashion is Kaitlyn Dever, who wore a Louis Vuitton dress made with the eco-friendly fiber, Tencel. As for Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan’s custom Gucci gown, it  featured a V-neck bodice made from black satin left over from the dress she wore to last weekend’s BAFTA Awards…

5 || Chunky Platforms

One thing we noticed at the 92nd Oscars last night was how confidently celebs were sashaying on the red carpet. Just to find out that the majority chose platforms rather than flat-footed heels. This totally makes sense, longer hem gowns are the perfect excuse for wearing comfortable heels!
