It’s official. Lebanese fashion designer Rabih Kayrouz was granted an esteemed position at the select club of haute couture houses. Maison Rabih Kayrouz is now one of the 17 fashion giants that are on the haute couture calendar; along with Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Alexandre Vauthier amongst others.
The Lebanese designer, who founded womenswear label Maison Rabih Kayrouz in Paris in 2008, has been elected guest member in 2016. After finally joining the haute couture list, Maison Rabih Kayrouz had to adhere to strict criteria to qualify for the renowned title, such as showing two couture collections of at least 25 looks a piece every year, producing handmade pieces in a Paris-based atelier, and creating made-to-measure clothing for private clients.
This is a great deal! To many this was a surprising addition to the couture calendar, which is a permanent membership status. As for the next round of haute couture shows, the S/S ’19 season will be held January 21-24 in Paris. Several guest members will be joining the permanent members this season, including Balmain, which returns to haute couture, as well as Ulyana Sergeenko, Iris van Herpen, Ralph & Russo and Zuhair Murad.
