The 50th anniversary of Ralph Lauren was as big as one can expect from the All-American designer who has amassed an extraordinary clientele throughout the years ranging from A-listers to toddlers bedecked in must-have Ralph Lauren outfits. In what was expected to be one of the biggest events of New York’s Fashion Week this year; the occasion of Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary was celebrated with an outstanding runway show followed by a black-tie dinner held at Central Park.
Ralph with his family
Friday night at Central Park wasn’t your usual night with vintage trolleys carrying in a mind-boggling number of stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Kanye West, and Anne Hathaway just to name a tiny few. Dinner was served in the courtyard of the Bethesda Terrace at Central Park and as the guests were getting seated Oprah’s voice boomed over the speakers to salute and congratulate Ralph on a triumphant show and for being the person to keep the American dream alive for so long.
The star-studded event included a huge number of impressive A-listers if you check out the images below. Hilary Clinton was among the dinner guests and she was obviously seated at the same table as Ralph with Oprah, Anna Wintour, and a hugely grateful Kanye West (to be seated next to fashion royalty). Pierce Brosnan, who was not the only Brosnan at the event, was also there having flown in to surprise his son Paris who was among the models walking down Ralph Lauren’s runway. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas continue to rev up the crowds and they were wearing their massive smiles and their Ralph Laurens. Ralph’s squad of designers was also there with Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and Vera Wang sitting front row.
The fashion show was this mash-up of outfits ranging from Ralph Lauren’s previous collections as well as his latest, and it included a fabulous mix of cowboy boots alongside velvet gowns and tuxedos. The show boasted an impressive group of diverse models young and old, tall and short and reflecting all of America’s colors in one place. The stars of the runway were obviously Kaia Gerber and Gigi Hadid as each took a single turn at walking down the runway; Gigi in a strapless patchwork gown and Kaia in velvet pants and a patchwork cape despite the heat. Yet the biggest moment was when a teary-eyed Ralph strutted down the runway to the sound of orchestral music swelling up as the show was coming to an end, followed by his army of models to lead the way out to the dinner party.
Ralph Lauren will continue to be the designer of dreams and not at all because of his trending styles and outfits, on the contrary the designer has established his label as the brand that never goes out of style; he has always provided classic luxury staples that are probably somewhat understand yet speak volumes to a loyal crowd with undying devotion…..
