The French Moroccan couturier Bouchra Jarrar is said to be in talks with Lanvin over the Women’s creative director role. Famed for her classic daytime silhouettes, this signals a change in direction for the french label, that has always focused on evening separates during Alber Elbaz’ stellar tenure at Lanvin. Unlike Alber who was the overall creative director, she would be given the women’s department only.
Having started her eponymous label in 2010 after working with Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga, she earned her haute couture appellation in 2013. Jarrar has expressed her openness to other designer collaborations, having recently signed with Mauboussin high jewelry for a collection debuting in July ’16.
Bouchra has a cult-like following for her streamline sportswear, an asset in the world of fashion today that is seeing an increase in flamboyant styles in a crowded fashion landscape. If you were to think of it, if you were in the market for a fabulous pantsuit, with all the brands out there, your choices would primarily be Bottega Veneta and Bouchra Jarrar!
