Arriving fashionably late to the GQ Men of the Year awards in London, Naomi Campbell, on the arm of Nigeria singer Wizkid cut a fine silhouette in a Versace mini and matching thigh high boots.
The veteran supermodel, who has been walking the runways for over 32 years, was celebrated with the Fashion Icon of the Year award. The award presented by Zendaya, dressed in a colorful Ralph & Russo number was enthusiastically received by the 48 year old Campbell who took to the stage for her acceptance speech.
The model thanked the establishment for the award and also for her record number of female GQ covers of the UK edition of the magazine. The celebrity was quick to remind everyone that her GQ involvement also included a role as journalist, with interviews with influential personalities such as President Putin and Hugo Chavez.
Naomi then went onto sing the praises of her beloved Africa. Over the past year or so, Naomi has been continuously morphing into a champion of the race. One of the most obvious changes of course is her hairstyle. Almost always stick straight in the past, Naomi has adopted a more natural do in the past few months.
The original runway model has been hinting at retirement from the catwalk. In May she was quoted as saying, “I don’t know if I can walk much longer, its been 32 years”. A few weeks later the model was seen strutting the Dolce & Gabbana men’s show, so she may not quite be ready to settle down just yet.
This is the second Fashion Icon award for Naomi Campbell. In June 2018 the model received the award from the CFDA, and a heartwarming congratulatory video from her fellow supermodels, check it out here.
