After his 4 year hiatus, Elbaz is finally back on the fashion scene! The designer is collaborating with Tod’s on their Factory project, a series of capsule collections taking its name from Andy Warhol’s renowned New York studio.
Diego Della Valle, Tod’s Group president says “It’s going to be fantastic, he has such a vision, he is three steps ahead.” We cant wait! Stay tuned for the big reveal this summer 2019.
This will be Elbaz’s first major work since leaving his position as Creative Director of Lanvin in October 2015, an occurrence he described as his “personal tragedy” in an exclusive interview with Vogue in May 2016. Although he did go onto say “There’s something quite fabulous about being free”, as he divulged his feelings towards the cycle of fashion’s “highs and lows” and the liberating freedom of not having PR representatives constantly telling him what to say. We hope Elbaz is given free rein in this new upcoming project to unleash his creativity being the artistic mastermind that he is.
Elbaz took to his instagram with the caption “Back to the laboratory.. Exclusive collaboration with Tod’s #DiegoDellaValle #Alberandamigos #BackToTheKitchen #FamilyBusiness ”, as did Tod’s, sharing BTS footage and a post captioned “Tod’s is pleased to announce an exclusive collaboration with Alber Elbaz, one of the most talented designers of our time, interpreting the world of Tod’s with his unmistakable creative genius.”
