1 || Queen Elizabeth Attends Her First London Fashion Week Event
The Queen sat front row next to Anna Wintour at the Richard Quinn show prior to presenting the designer with the first Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.
2 || Dior’s Women Empowerment Moment
Dior’s fall runway took the audiences back in time to the 1960’s revolutionary spirit to advocate for women’s rights by staging a 1968 protest down its runway. Dior’s first female artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri has been using Dior’s runways to send messages of women empowerment, and what better way to do that than to channel the 1960’s youth fervour and enthusiasm for equality and peace.
3 || Off-White’s Virgil Abloh’s Crazed Fans
Virgil Abloh’s fame seems to have majorly intensified of late as guests attending Off-White’s Fall 2018 collection at Paris’s “West-Village” had problems cutting their way through the mob of Abloh fans that gathered a block off Rue Cambon. Some attributed the riot to the launch of Virgil Abloh x Air Jordan sneakers which were being sold at a venue near the event. The police were struggling to control the crowds.
4 || Balenciaga Supports The World Food Program
By splashing “Saving Lives, Changing Lives” slogans on their hoodies, tees, knits and caps, Balenciaga supported the World Food Program by donating a portion of their revenue from these items to that cause. Demna Gvasalia is said to have actually invented the concept of ‘high fashion merch’ and he utilised his Autumn/Winter 2018 show to raise money for a good cause. Balenciaga highly values their partnership with the WFP and they consider it “an important step in making fashion useful in a different way.”
5 || The Return of Bananarama
Sonia Rykiel’s catwalk was a feverish concoction of 80’s Saturday night fever. For the anniversary of Sonia Rykiel’s 50th anniversary famed all-girl band Bananarama performed their hit cover “He Was Really Sayin’ Somethin” with the models dancing down the runway while a gigantic glitter bomb exploded overhead.
6 || Stranger Things’s 15-Year-Old Sadie Sink Sparks Controversy as She Walks PFW Runway
Stranger Things’s 15-year-old new comer Sadie Sink follows in the steps of her co-stars and walks down the runway at Paris Fashion Week’s Undercover’s Fall 2018 show. Sink’s debut sparks controversy as there is a general rule prohibiting the use of models under 16 years of age. It is worth noting that the Stranger Things cast are surprisingly quite fashion savvy; Millie Bobby Brown has a Calvin Klein Campaign, and Caleb McLaughlin was a front row regular at New York Fashion Week. Sink opened the show in a monochromatic red look wearing a hoodie, jogging pants, sneakers and an embellished beanie.
7 || Prada’s Next Show Will Be Held At New York
Prada decided to go against the flow as they decided to bring their Cruise 2019 show to New York on May 4, 2018. While it is known that fashion houses showcase their cruise collections in semi exotic locations, Prada felt that New York city is a good-enough destination for their collection.
8 || Kaia Gerber Bringing Some 90’s Inspired Supermodel Moves
The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree and in this case, Kaia Gerber happily brought back the 90’s supermodel attitude with a twirl and a hair flip at the Anna Sui catwalk. Some see this as a revival of the magnificent supermodel era that we all would love to see again.
9 || Cardi B Is The New Front Row Mate of Anna Wintour’s
Anna Wintour’s unlikely new mate is non other than rapper Cardi B. The pair were seen sitting side by side during New York Fashion week and specifically at Alexander Wang’s show. Social media was having a field day knowing that Cardi B was seated next to Wintour and courageously sporting a knee length Steve Madden black leather boots.
10 || Moncler Genius Event Kicked off Milan Fashion Week
“A Republic of Imagination” is the description of Moncler’s Genius event which was a standout event on all scales where Moncler kicked off MFW with 8 mini presentations by eight different designers.
