The now iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was staged in Paris last week. Beautiful girls in bras stomping the runway in the annual extravaganza. Other than the new faces on the catwalk, because believe it or not, the average life-span of a runway model is 3 seasons, that’s a year and a half! What drew us in and captured our imagination was the non-uniform a-typical Victoria’s Secret hairstyles that we are so used to. Perfectly curled, natural waves that remind us of Farah Fawcett from the Seventies.
The Victoria’s Secret models were encouraged to wear their hair as close to natural as possible. There are of course the Gigi and Bella Hadid’s of this world that have that fabulous hair anyway, but there were three intriguingly original short hair styles that pretty much stole the show.
Last year, model Maria Borges made waves for being only the second VS model to walk in the show with her short, natural hair. This year Maria was joined by models Jourdana Phillips and Herieth Paul. Hairstylist and Beachwaver creator Sarah Potempa shared with People Magazine that the backstage edict was that all models should wear their hair in a less uniform way. “It’s about the whole idea of embracing everyone’s natural beauty.” And we at CIIN are thrilled !
