Influencers Rein Supreme on the FROW

Influencers

Influencers have been getting a lot of slack recently… Often accused of peddling products that they don’t necessarily favor and general weak content. Well whether or not these accusations ring true to you personally, no one can deny the influence and thus importance of influencers at fashion weeks.

In the past the FROW (front row) of runway presentations were reserved for Hollywood and magazine editor royalty. That was yesterday, with the number of influencers taking center stage rising exponentially over the past few years. One of the most poignant reality checks was from Alexander Wang’s show last season which had music sensation Cardi B seated right next to Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Not only was the association surprising their difference in fashion sense was equally entertaining.

Influencers

According to Chris Detert, CCO at Influential, “influencers drive engagement, interest and ultimately sales.” In a world of content overload, how to spread your message is almost as important as what your message says. 2 billion people log onto social media (FB, IG, Twitter) which amplifies the importance of influencers that are in and of themselves micro media companies.

Influencers

Influencers hit two birds with one stone. Not only do they have celebrity status with following reaching into the millions, but you don’t need to worry about telling the world they were there, they’ll do it for you! As Detert aptly put it, “what’s great about influencers is they’re their own media. They don’t require media saying that they were there. You know that they were there because they’re going to tell you that they were there and their whole audience follow that voraciously.”
