The famed Amina Muaddi, who has recently taken Instagram by storm with her iconic shoe designs, has just been hired by Rihanna herself to join the Fenty team. The Jordanian-Romanian designer explained in an interview with Footwear News that it was Rihanna’s stylist, Jahleel Weaver, who hooked the two up soon after he spotted Muaddi’s Cindarella-esque pumps on net-a-porter and styled several of them on the award winning artist turned businesswoman. Muaddi will be working on the freelance project of designing the upcoming footwear for Riri’s Fenty collection whilst continuing to create for couturier Alexandre Vauthier as well as her own namesake line. Muaddi’s shoes were also featured in the Savage x Fenty lingerie show during NYFW.
Muaddi’s eponymous line sold out in a day upon its launch last year! Amina is a style icon herself beyond her chic footwear, having been featured in Vogue for her Parisienne style inspiration, she is definitely one to watch. FN described her to be “one of those girls — cool, glamorous, global, effortless. Even if Instagram didn’t exist in all its aspirational FOMO, she would still be “that woman” at the party with the impeccable outfits and the right friends. Above all else is an elegant nonchalance about it all.” Muaddi is understandably elated to have Rihanna as her boss, though she expresses to FN that it isn’t all about fame and celebrity to her, sharing “This is me and this is what I do,” she said. “It’s an extension of me and who I am as a designer and an entrepreneur, and it’s my idea of the modern woman.”
Weaver revealed to FN that “Amina is someone whose work I’ve respected for some time now, her shoes always have a strong sense of sex appeal and femininity, which she embodies herself, and is something I look for in my work. We naturally developed a strong friendship on the mutual respect for each other’s sensibilities in terms of style.”
Other notable fans of the Amina Muaddi brand are Queen Rania, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the Jenners.
