COVID-19 isn’t going to stop Leila Issam fine jewellery. The virus that has claimed the lives of over one million people and possibly as many small businesses is no match for the ambitious jewellery designer who will be exhibiting her latest collection at Paris Fashion week. As the world shrinks in its vision and strategy for the future, Laila Issam is charging full steam ahead, exhibiting at her first Fashion week as she had planned all along.
Established in 2014, Leila Issam Fine Jewellery has carved an impressive niche for her brand, not only is she represented at a number of stores and showrooms worldwide, but her brand is synonymous with modern jewelry design with an emphasis on the gemstones themselves. This keeps the design itself minimal, serving to highlight the stones, the design in fact has purpose. This ethos, serves the brand well, creating an attitude of beauty without succumbing to the fad and design appeal of the moment. There is nothing ‘fashionable’ about the pieces, they are each unique, modern and timeless, furthering Leila Issam’s vision, in each and every piece.
Leila’s jewelry gives you space.. Space to dream up your own look, space to appreciate the design and gemstones without all the clutter and space to envision the piece decades from now.. Reimagined or even handed down to loved ones. Leila Issam pieces have longevity, they are modern heirlooms.. At the beginning of her career as a jewelry designer, Leila Issam posed the question, “How do we create pieces that are timeless, luxurious while creating non-traditional designs that can be worn daily?” It is this guidance that has drawn her to designing pieces that are reflective of this traditional conundrum.
Which brings us to the designer’s latest collection, which will be showcased at Flying Solo at Paris Fashion Week. The platform, designed to showcase unique and progressive brands in an environment of cooperation not competition. If there is anything the fashion world knows well it is competition, Flying Solo has broken this cycle with its innovative platform which has received praise from Vogue, WWD, The New York Times and Nylon Magazine amongst others. Considered an industry disruptor and a model for the future, Flying Solo brings together talents symbiotically: the brands are showcased together, creating a powerful synergy that is often lacking in the fashion world. Leila Issam’s latest collection will share the runway today with British contemporary ready-to-wear brand April & Alex. The bold lines and color combinations of the clothing collection prove an empowering fit for the Leila Issam jewellery line.
The designer’s first foray into an international fashion week, Leila Issam is the only Jordanian and Arab to be showcased at Flying Solo. When asked about this exciting step in the brand’s journey, Leila shared,
We are thrilled that LIFJ will be showcasing in Paris in front of industry insiders and experts. We have created an exclusive collection for Paris Fashion Week that will be on the runway with 8 stunning models. We are proud to be able to participate in this season’s show in collaboration with a top resource for industry professionals.” The cherry on top is the pleasure of dressing French celebrity and Miss France 2018, Maeva Coucke.
Leila Issam’s collections have always been inspired by the women around and what they tend to go through; by how they feel about themselves and how they would like to be perceived at this moment in time. At the moment, Leila has felt both men and women are in a place where they are finding themselves. Somehow, people are acting a bit rebellious. So for this season’s SS’21 collection, the fine jewellery label has gone for glam-rock vibes. LIFJ is the women of today, sometimes mysterious, daring and empowered by her enigmatic elegance.
