Eujung Jang, a.k.a. EJ, pretty much had zero plans of becoming a handbag designer. However, Jang has always been drawn to strong architectural shapes and had the ability to visualize the harmony between art and design. The reason behind that was simply a few years spent learning about interiors and architecture and having a life that was just busy taking care of her family. 2013 was the year when Eujung decided to act upon her desires. Out of a small atelier in Seoul, The Volon, her handbag line came to life..
The name Volon comes from a philosophical phrase by Jean-Jacques Rousseau: le volonte de tous, which translates to “the will of all.” It’s the total of what one individual wants, a brand that strives to satisfy the very core of an individual’s needs.
Volon carries a wide range of bags, which include a plethora of shades and sheens, like metallics, pastels, and bright primary colors. Petite, structured handbags, such as the bestselling Great Large Box bag, accented with faux fur and color-blocked sequins.. Spotted everywhere this fashion month, from the streets of New York to London, Milan, and Paris. Other than a good number of bloggers and influencers loving her handbags, the celebrity world is catching on too. Recently The Volon designers were contacted by Lady Gaga’s stylist.. On a personal level, Jang admits that she is her own biggest fan.
