CoverGirl’s latest campaign proves once again that it’s making a conscious effort to make the beauty industry more inclusive. Continuing to lead the way for representing diversity in the beauty industry, Nura Afia was chosen as their latest addition to the new campaign for it’s So Lashy! mascara.. Nura Afia is already a well-known beauty blogger and makeup artist on Instagram and YouTube. She has become an inspiration thanks to her makeup looks featuring her hijab, and representing Muslim beauty lovers everywhere.
Last month, CoverGirl announced their first ever male ambassador, vlogger James Charles, and Nura’s appointment is another step forward for the brand. She also joins the ranks of musical duo Chloe + Hallie, DJ and actress Amy Pham, Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, and Katy Perry.
We see why CoverGirl chose Nura — her luscious, lengthy eyelashes are totally enviable. We’d also love to know how she does her foundation and strobing, because her skin is flawless. Her popular makeup channel has racked up over 200,000 subscribers who faithfully watch her share unique beauty hacks and creative ways to rock a hijab.
You will be able to get a first look at Nura making her CoverGirl debut in the upcoming So Lashy! commercial on Nov. 14. In the meantime, you will see her gorgeous face on billboards around Times Square in New York City. Congrats, Nura Afia!
