Perhaps in preparation for the arrival of the royal baby or perhaps they realised the need for some independence; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched their own official Instagram page @SussexRoyal . Prior to that they shared the same page with Prince William, Kate and the royal children @KensingtonRoyal.
The new account shows only one post so far, which is a slide show showcasing 10 images of the Royals’ public work. The caption reads as follows “Welcome to our official Instagram, we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the cases we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.” Harry & Meghan
The Instagram page was launched after the royals announced the establishment of a separate royal household than that of Prince William and Kate Middleton. This separation means that the royal couple will each have their own staff based at Buckingham Palace where they report to the Queen’s private secretary.
At the time of writing this article the royal account has amassed 2.1 million followers while only following 23 accounts, namely some royal and charity pages. The account’s profile photo is Harry and Meghan’s official logo; a crown over their intertwined initials written in white on a navy background. The Kensington Royal account has removed the Sussex’s from their official bio and it changed the profile photo to a Cambridge family portrait. Fans are waiting to see if an official Twitter account will follow next.
