We Gave L’Oreal’s Magic Root Touch Up A Go and This Is What Happened

L’Oreal’s Magic Root Touch

We’ve been quite curious about this bright turquoise bottle that promises to magically conceal our grey roots in seconds, so we gave it a try for a few days and this is what transpired.

Firstly, the colors available are quite generous with two shades of blonde, four shades of brown, a red and a black. We went for the light brown which works well for mousey brown hair.

Now for the application, the first thing we considered was the weight and size of the bottle itself. At times the bottles are heavy and a little too large to handle properly. The size, plastic exterior and weight were all ideal and lightweight which we found particularly helpful!

The instructions specify that we spray the area we are intending to cover from a. 4-6” distance. Following instructions carefully the powerful spray covered the area well. About a minute later the spray itself had dried which allowed us a good look at the results.

This seems to be a concealer spray first and foremost meaning that it will cover all the surfaces and not just the hair itself. For people with thinner hair this is actually an added bonus as it helps hair appear fuller. We sprayed the hair on two areas, one with grey intwined with darker hair, and then a full grey patch. The results were great! The coverage was strong without being overly heavy.

The strong spray applicator covers large surfaces at once which is great for the top of the head. When you angle in to cover the hairline it is most likely that you will get some on your skin, just tissue off with a makeup remover wet wipe.

One thing we did realize however is that the spray feels like a strong hairspray. It would be hard for your hair to blow in the wind after application. For those of you that use hairspray, yet another added bonus. For others that prefer a more natural head of hair, perhaps try and brush through it after it dries. The most important element to consider is when it is sprayed, at the very end of your hairstyling would be best.

Overall we would highly recommend this product in between root hair dye appointments, and perhaps on a regular basic to cover the scalp, thus reducing the appearance of thinning hair.
