Just because our backs our covered most of the time this doesn’t mean that we should neglect or slacken in terms of the health and beauty of our backs. Browsing at all the images of the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) this morning one can’t help but notice all the bare-backed celebrities flaunting their flawlessly smooth backs. Beautiful backs are all about the posture, and the skin. This shouldn’t be too difficult right? Below are a few tips and reminders to get you ready for an exit that is more stunning than your entrance.
1 || Get Steamy
Though recent research tells us to decrease the frequency of our very hot showers, but sometimes you just need that extra bit of kick. Hot water or steam on the back helps open up the pores and makes it easier to slough away all the buildup and grime. It is recommended to apply essential oils before you steam, and you should shower afterwards.
2 || Scrub It
This is probably an obvious tip but don’t underestimate the power of a good scrub. Deep exfoliation is crucial for ridding yourself of dead skin cells and for paving the way for a smoother back. If you suffer from the occasional back pimple use an acne wash to tackle this embarrassing little problem.
3 || Moisturise
Do you ever moisturise your back? Come on admit it! We know it’s a bit of a struggle logistically but again don’t underestimate the importance of moisturising this hard-to-reach area. You can use an in-shower oil for added nourishment and softness.
4 || Magic Of Massage
A massage once or twice a week is magical; we don’t have to tell you that! It’s not only relaxing and melts the stress away but it’s also deeply moisturising as the masseuse will surely reach all the corners that you struggle to reach yourself.
5 || Homemade Treatments
Instead of getting yourself to the spa, aim to have a day a week where you indulge yourself in some serious TLC. You can try any number of homemade scrubs such as mixing sea salt with baking soda for a body polish you can enjoy. You can also mix sugar, milk, olive oil, and glycerin for a moisturising massage. Rubbing a lemon wedge is a great natural bleach.
6 || Body Makeup
You can easily fake it by applying concealer if needed and some body foundation. Kim Kardashian West clearly understood her customers when she launched her body foundation line. You could also invest in some body shimmer or dry oil to reflect the light and help you ooze sexiness.
7 || Self Tan
You could simply add some color to your back by using a mist self-tanner; just bend over slightly, lift your arm over your shoulder and spray away. The color will fall on your back evenly.
8 || Work It Out
The best exercises to help you get rid of back flab are not rocket science; swimming, yoga, pilates, push-ups,and planks will do wonders. Plus whenever you’re home alone, make sure to do your superwoman, your side planks, and the lawn mower.
9 || Sleep On Your Back
Train yourself to sleep on your back to protect your posture. Not only will it help you keep your spine aligned, it will also help reduce tension headaches, relieve sinuses, and prevent wrinkles and creases. Invest in a good-support pillow to keep your neck in the right alignment.
10 || Meditate
Yes you’re going to ask me about the connection. Allow me to lay it down gently, when you meditate you lower your cortisol levels and you lessen all the tension and pressure that you’re under. Ultimately your shoulders, neck and upper back will relax and you will have the most envied posture around.
