As much and often we preach for vitamins C or A, there exists another spectacular vitamin renown to be ‘The Beauty Vitamin’… vitamin E..
This vitamin is primarily an antioxidant that can be found in the ingredient list in tons of serums and creams. It’s basically a group of fat-soluble vitamins that act like that glue that holds everything together. Talk about skin integrity and vitamin E will be the reason.. Best when used topically more than when ingested. Creams containing vitamin E or lipid-based solutions like oils are usually mixed with other vitamins in order to activate its antioxidant powers.
Let’s start by mentioning who should NOT be using vitamin E in their skincare regimens…
Those who have oily or acne-prone skin should be careful about using too much of it in their skincare routines. Vitamin E is acne-genic and too much of it can cause breakouts..
Now let’s delve into the beauty aspect and explore how vitamin E is essential in many ways..
1 || It’s Anti-inflammatory
While vitamin E users have moisturized and supple skin, little did they know that it also fights inflammation! Vitamin E relieves symptoms of those with a condition called atopic dermatitis, which causes red, itchy, and irritated skin. Moreover, it stabilizes vitamin C and therefore adds additional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to skincare products.
2 || It’s An Antioxidant
Antioxidants fight the damage caused by free radicals in our environment. Overtime, free radical oxidation can cause your skin’s natural barrier to weaken. Research has shown that even after a small amount of UV exposure, levels of vitamin E in the skin drop by 50 percent, so it’s important to replenish it to maintain skin health.
3 || It’s Magical for treating scars, bruises and stretch marks..
I usually blend a drop of vitamin C serum with a drop of vitamin E oil and rub both on any bruise on my body, the next day, it diminishes by 50%.. Vitamin E isn’t only beneficial for your face: you should use it everywhere on your body. Scars recover faster from burns, surgery, and other wounds. It can also help prevent and treat stretch marks.
4 || It Plumps The Lips
If you make it a ritual, placing a bottle of vitamin E on your nightstand and applying it on lips and both of your elbows, works magic..
5 || Reduces Itching
Vitamin E cannot treat allergic reactions, infections, eczemas and other issues that cause skin itching. Because it moisturizes the skin, however, it may offer temporary relief from itching caused by dry skin.
6 || Preventing or treating fine lines and wrinkles
Dry skin tends to look more wrinkled than well-moisturized skin. The moisturizing benefits of vitamin E oil may help the skin look more youthful and less wrinkled.
7 || Relieves sunburns..
Limited research suggests that vitamin E can prevent or reduce the formation of sunburns. Because vitamin E oil can moisturize and soothe dry, flaky skin, it may help to relieve the burning and itching that result from a sunburn.
