We have heard and seen people close up their earlobe piercings when they become too saggy but this is the first time that we have heard of earlobe fillers. It seems earlobe filers are becoming quite popular and they are mainly used to help fashionistas maintain their looks and sense of style with statement earrings. Kris Jenner was one of the first celebrities to draw attention to the issue of sagging earlobes; and though she may have resorted to a number of procedures to reduce the circumference of her earlobes but fillers were also helpful in her case. We tried to do a bit of an investigation and below are our findings…
1 || Who Needs Earlobe Fillers?
As with everything else in our bodies earlobes tend to get thinner with age; with the natural loss of collagen and elasticity; especially when you’re the type to wear heavy earrings frequently. When the earlobe piercings get stretched, the fillers can fill them up and thus help out even when you want to wear your favourite studs. However, these fillers won’t be very helpful in cases of extreme stretching of the earlobe; in these cases an earlobe reduction procedure is probably best. For younger patients, fillers can provide extra cushioning to the earlobe to allow those fashionistas to wear their statement earrings with ease and without fearing any damage to their earlobes.
2 || Is It A Painful Procedure?
The procedure is a very simple procedure that is also reversible. It takes only a few minutes to put a numbing cream on the area before injecting it. A few droplets are injected around the perimeter of the earlobe to increase its volume and make the ear stronger and better able to hold heavy jewellery. Filler is only placed in the areas that have become thinner and not in the piercing itself.
3 || How Long Does The Filler Last?
Earlobe fillers can last from 12 to 18 months and this is much longer than say lip fillers because this is an area that doesn’t move so much unlike the lips.
4 || How Long Has This Trend Been Around?
This procedure has been around for over ten years but wasn’t very popular back then. It has become increasingly popular recently along with the changes in the fashion scene and the dominance of the statement earrings trend, in addition to the increasing popularity of fillers in general.
5 || What Are The Types of Fillers That Are Used?
Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are the most preferred as they feel and look natural.
6 || How Much Does It Cost?
In the States, this procedure can cost from $200 to $500 since the patient will only use a very small amount. Some dermatologists might suggest you use what remains in the syringe after you do your lips or smile lines.
