Beauty means business, literally and figuratively! The beloved skincare brand Tatcha has clearly been doing exceptionally well for it to have caught the eyes of the business-minded people at Unilever, with their impressive portfolio covering hundreds of brands in varying categories. Even though the official price of the acquisition wasn’t officially announced but insiders have reported that the deal is approaching $500 Million. Tatcha’s yearly sales for 2018 alone were estimated to be around $70 Million.
Unilever is home to the world’s most known brands, the list is too exhaustive to count but with regards to their beauty and skincare brands their list includes Dove, Tresemmé, Pond’s, Vaseline, Sunsilk, and Lux, among many others. But that’s not all. Other skincare brands under the umbrella of Unilever include Hourglass, Murad, Dermalogica, and Ren among others.
For those following up with beauty acquisitions, this acquisition is not uncommon. Earlier this year beauty giant Estee Lauder took on Becca, Glamglow, Too Faced, and Rodin, while L’Oreal purchased It Cosmetics and CeraVe.
Tatcha’s founder, Vicky Tsai, is overjoyed at this new partnership, and though her role is unclear yet but she explained that “When creating Tatcha, our dream was to make a brand that would live for at least 100 years….That dream can come true in our new home with Unilever.” Below are some of Tatcha’s best selling products.
