The term “cocktailing” your beauty products have become a trendy term as of late, what with the ‘Yoga Skin’ craze that is going around. Cocktailing your products is a much simpler concept than you might think, it literally allows you to make the best use of your makeup products while being able to create a customised look that is so you. The possibilities of cocktailing are endless; we have collected for you a few tips and techniques but feel free to experiment to your heart’s content. Below are a few of our favourite beauty product cocktails that are so easy to execute.
1 || Primer + Foundation + Highlighter
If you’re pinched for time like we always are, simply mix together your foundation with a drop of primer and some gel highlighter to create a dewy look that simply glows.
2 || Foundation + Shimmer Bronzer
Don’t feel daunted by the concept of changing the color or texture of your foundation. You can mix two shades of foundation; one darker and one exact if you want to go a shade darker. You can also easily mix your foundation with a shimmery bronzer for an added dose of radiance. Mix a few drops of bronzer with your foundation and apply using your Beautyblender.
3 || Cheek Stain + Liquid Highlighter
Mixing a cheek stain with liquid highlighter is a marvellous shortcut to youthful-looking cheeks. Mix two drops of cheek stain with one drop of liquid highlighter on the back of your hand. Blend starting from the apples of your cheeks going towards your temples. I personally prefer to do it the other way round depositing the heavier dose of color near my temples. Experiment and see what fits.
4 || Moisturiser + Self Tanner
Using a facial self-tanner has always been tricky and difficult to master. However, mixing a few drops of self tanner with your nightly moisturiser not only ensures even coverage but you wake up looking tan and healthy. Mix a dime sized amount of moisturiser with a drop or two of tan drops, mix in your palm, apply to face and neck and wash your hands immediately afterwards.
5 || Cleansing Oil & Exfoliator
Itching to exfoliate but again there’s no time; you can easily mix your oil cleanser with an exfoliator. By doing this step once or twice a week you can achieve the exfoliation benefits such as increased circulation and removal of dead skin cells, while providing yourself with maximum hydration and maintaining the skin’s natural pH balance due to the oil cleanser.
6 || Highlighter + Lip Liner + Lipstick + Lip Gloss
My favorite look of the moment is the glossy pout with slight highlights lining the upper lip; or the bottom lip if you prefer, remember all the tips can be customised to your needs. Simply dab a highlighting stick on your cupid’s bow going slightly above your lips to highlight the protruding lines reaching to your nose and going downwards to line your upper lip. Line with a rosy-nude lipliner and top with a complimenting lipstick. Finish off with a few random dabs of lipgloss. You can also ditch the liner and lipstick for a naturally nude look. This is the perfect method to achieve healthy pouty lips.
