Oh the base of all things! Foundation is the canvas and base of any makeup look obviously. When done right, it will seal your whole makeup look together. But when done wrong that’s when you will obviously have a problem. How wrong you wonder? Well there are a number of ways that you can get foundation wrong and there will be no fixing the mistakes by then! Below are a few foundation hacks that can guarantee you never get it wrong again.
1 || Use A Brush
Aim to always use a brush to spread the foundation onto the skin. Use light, circular movements so that you can use less product and build even coverage.
2 || Start Light
Remember that it’s always easier to build up coverage than it is to remove excess foundation so start light and build up the coverage gradually.
3 || Apply It Everywhere
You probably already know that you need to blend your foundation past your jawline and onto your neck, but if your neckline is showing, you’ll want to blend the color there too. Plus, don’t forget the ears! Fair-skinned complexions in particular are susceptible to redness on the ears so it’s better to cover them up. You will also need to blend a light layer of foundation over your eyelids and lips.
4 || Highlighter Before Foundation
There are no rules to applying makeup; some people apply concealers before foundation while others don’t, but I can tell you what actually works. For a subtle look, try to apply your highlighter before the foundation so the glow looks more natural, as if you’re really lit from within. Additionally, applying the highlighter before your foundation can help the highlighter last the whole day. I personally feel that when I apply the highlighter on top of foundation it tends to get a little dull throughout the day. Having it underneath, gives that natural glow.
5 || Foundation Swatches
When choosing the right foundation shade, never check the color match on the palm of your hand or even your face; the best way to pick a color fit is by applying the foundation on your neck!
