10 Beauty Facts From Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara

41 year old Sofia Vergara is a confessed beauty junkie, this stunning comedian goes to serious measures to stay beautiful, and from the looks of things it may be her full time job, with acting on the side. That said she is once again nominated for the People Choice Awards airing January 6th, ’16.

Tips, tricks, secrets and products, here’s what you need to know about this accomplished beauty.

On Really Having A Beauty Closet In Her House…

I do! I’m a crazy person when it comes to products. If I read about a woman in a magazine, like Christie Brinkley, who’s 60 and looks ridiculously gorgeous, I buy everything she says she uses. Recently I’ve been into an anti-aging moisturizer from Camille Obadia, and sent a whole kit of it to my mother.

On Being A Natural Blonde…

Having blonde roots with dark hair, you start looking bald! So I’ve been making it lighter recently, just because it’s easier. When my hair was very dark, I had to dye my roots every month—it was a lot of maintenance. Now I can go two or three months between colorings.

Yes, I’m blonde. When I started as an actor, because of the accent and my body and my personality, it was not what the stereotype of the Latina woman in Hollywood is, so they didn’t know where to put me. The blonde hair wasn’t matching. The moment I put my hair dark, it was better for my work

On Head & Shoulders For Real!

My hair is actually straight, so I use a curling iron to create them because my hair doesn’t do well with a lot of product. I can’t put oils, pomades, or anything else in it because it gets weighed down. I just use shampoo, Head & Shoulders, conditioner and hairspray.

In fact, its much more than just a dandruff shampoo. Its a complete hair care regimen that gives me beautiful, great-smelling hair. There are so few products that give you gorgeous hair and confidence, too. I don’t know why people act surprised when they learn I use Head & Shoulders. It has made my hair and scalp healthy for over 20 years and smells amazing.

On Aging Gracefully, Or Not…

“I’m not against plastic surgery at all, but I think that you should go into it more thinking that you want to look beautiful than trying to look young. Because I don’t really think that plastic surgery can make you look young. It can make you look prettier, but if you go with the mentality of being young, I think that’s where accidents can happen. I’ve used Crème de la Mer since before I was supposed to; I believe in prevention. Because once your skin is sagging, it’s sagging. I’m not going to lie, I liked being in my 20s. Youth makes everyone look good. Your skin looks better, your hair looks better. But as you get older, you figure it out. You get more confident — and that’s beautiful.”

As for makeup, “I used to do more black eyeliner, but now that I’m older I wear browns because black can be too much.”

On Being Glamorous Every Single Day…

She doesn’t always curl her hair or wear false lashes, but she does admit to full makeup every day, and always has. She wears lipstick all the time as her mother used to stress that wearing a lipstick gives the impression of looking well-put together. She also said that, being a Latina girl, she always watched her mother do makeup and loved applying a little blush or lipstick when she was just fourteen years old.

Her two must-haves in her purse are a bold-hued lipstick and a concealer for touchups. On a normal day it takes her an hour to get dolled up while Red-carpet days can take upto three days to prep herself. With so much time spent in the makeup chair it’s no wonder the “Modern Family” actress always looks her ravishing best.

An hour and is minutes. I take my time—I like showering, scrubbing, bubbling. Everyone is always rushing me! They’ll lie about when an event starts to try to get me there on time. But I always know, so 1 don’t give a damn.

On A Glamorous Evening Look…

The veteran beauty states that the key component of a glamorous evening look begins with the eyes. A bold look with big sexy lashes and shimmery eye shadow is her signature look for a dazzling evening. An eyelash curler is a pre-requisite before applying mascara. As for applying liquid liner, the sultry actress has her own secret style which is to hold her breath for a perfect application.

On Exercise…

Sofia is not a workout person, she calls it ‘paaaaiiiiiiinful’, she has never enjoyed doing it and prefers supervised training sessions so that she sticks to her workouts. She does 1 hour of workout routines 2-3 times a week, with weights and cardio. She prefers pilates and yoga and is a proponent of reverse crunches which she does religiously.

On Her Survival Against Cancer…

Sofia was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in her 20s. She claims that after the cancer, she realized the need for a healthy body. The cancer episode changed her priorities and she strictly believes that it is very important to be good to one’s body. After her battle with cancer, she has not eaten red meat for seventeen years and never smoked either!

On Her Beauty Role Model…

From a young age her beauty role model has been the commanding Sofia Lauren. “She always looks well put-together. She always carries herself with confidence” – something we can all do.

On Her Stay-Gorgeous Trick That Isn’t Out Of A Bottle…

‘My mother always told me to make the last water in your shower really cold. I’ve always done it.’

On Her Biggest Health Regret…

You know what I wish? My face is so much better, because I’ve been putting sunblock since I was young on my face. Nobody ever told me that I needed to put it in my decolletage! And so it is more sun-damaged than my face. It wouldn’t have been difficult to put a little bit there.
