Makeup trends, just like our clothes, change with the seasons! If you tend to get bored with your looks but don’t dare do anything drastic, experimenting with makeup is an easy place to start! Fall/winter makeup is where you dare to go wild, dramatic, glamorous and just a little weird if you wish to go that far! Taking our inspiration from the runways, check out the latest makeup tips and trends going around that will easily keep you looking fab well into 2020. Some of them are becoming classics such as dewy skin and flushed blush and others are quite of-the-moment, so you get to pick and choose to your heart’s content!
1 || Dewy Skin
Gorgeous dewy skin is still very much in, we actually think it’s becoming a classic look. Winter skin is so dry and dull hence the need to embrace glowy hydrated skin. Please note that this look is all about the moisture so please ditch the shimmery highlighter for this one. Pair this with neutral eyeshadow and a smudge of brick lipstick.
2 || Golden Eye
A perfect look for the holiday season; this tend is part glamorous, part disco. Apply gold to smokey eyes for a modern take on this disco-esque trend.
3 || A Rendition of The 60’s Eye
Apply eyeliner or eye shadow all around your eyes, either close to the lid or taken slightly higher. Accompany that with winged liner, and lots and lots of mascara on the upper and lower lashes.
4 || Color Pops
Play around with your looks using colourful pops of color either using eyeliner or eyeshadow. This look is all about little powerful strategic uses of color. Apply colourful eyeliner, smudge some eyeshadow in the center of the crease, or blend some on the outer corners of your eyes. There are no rules to follow here.
5 || Pinks and Purples
Pink has been around for a while and it seems it’s here to stay and why not… it’s so pretty and complimenting. Experiment with different shades of the same color at the same time. Pair this look with nude lips and a bit of blush.
6 || Matchy Matchy
Matching your lips to your eyes is another strong trend this season. You can use your lipstick to smudge some on your lids to create the desired effect.
7 || Brown Eyeshadow
The return to shades of brown in clothing was followed through to makeup. Either use an all-over taupe color for a smokey eye, or you can open up the eyes by strategically smudging your brown eyeliner on both your upper and lower lids.
8 || Morning-After Liner
One of my favourite 90’s trends is the morning-after liner. Just imagine how your eyes would look the morning after a party, when some liner has escaped your ’thorough’ makeup remover. Apply your eyeliner on your waterline and around your lashes and smudge it out. Pair it with a hint of metallic eyeshadow or with an orange-red lip for a look inspired by the runway.
9 || Graphic Eye
Another trend that is hovering around is the graphic eye. A very fashionable trend; a few well placed lines on your eyelids can take you from party to runway if ever there was such a thing. Perhaps not the most wearable trend, but if you love experimenting well this is a look for you.
Another trend that can take your experimentation to the next level is the unusual mascara trend. Ditch your trusted black mascara for this one and opt for something striking instead. You need to be daring for this trend as well.
11 || Lipgloss
A spin-off the dewy skin look is the glossy lips trend. Makeup artists seems to be favouring glossy hydrated lips to matte velvet lips of seasons past.
12 || All Shades Of Red
Take your pick; a classic look to suit the season, all shades of red were present on the runways. Red, berry, and wine lips were both well defined or smudged and stained. They were both glossy and matte as well.
